The sculptures and jewelry by Lisa Giobbi are expressions of her career as an aerial dancer and choreographer. Each hand-sculpted piece reflects her sensibility of movement, revealing how dynamism changes the emotional viewpoint of an object.
Many of the pieces are influenced by art and cultures encountered while touring with her dance company.
The jewelry is designed as wearable sculptures that are meant to be held, creating a tactile experience of movement.
The pieces are hand sculpted in wax and are not meant to be “perfect”, as a tooled object would be. There is a looseness to the way the wax is handled which brings an individualized character to each piece.
